April 19, 2012: Death of a great investment counselor, Carl H. Otto
Updated: April 20, 2012
Carl H. Otto
I have learned with great sadness that on April 19, 2012, Carl H. Otto died. During his 50-plus-year career in investment management, Carl has been a pioneer bringing real estate, international and structured indexing to the Canadian marketplace. He had a superior understanding of the demographical and political impact on the economy and the markets. His thoughtful insights and views will be missed.
Some 20 years ago, Carl gave me the opportunity to do a career change and work in this exciting industry: investment management. I could not have dreamt of a better way to start a new career – working with Carl. He showed me the importance of “growing income”, it is as important today and will always be. I have been lucky to work not only with the greatest mentor, but also a man of great integrity, generosity and with superb human values.
His teachings will always guide me.
